September 2, 2016 Matt Hetherington

Matt Hetherington uses words in poetry with great intellectual sophistication and this is most appropriately showcased by his minimalist speech patterns and rhythms in vocal recitation. This seamlessly infuses the dry minimalist banter between Matt and 3CR Spoken Word presenter Santo Cazzati. By contrast, Matt gives a scintillatingly sprinting performance of his jazzy poem You Drift In You Drift Out. Matt also talks about his project of publishing poetry on Melbourne's suburban trains, about the relation of poetry to music, and about the possibilities for spoken word improvisation.
